Advice..Keep Instructing or Cape Air?

I am sitting on 1k total time and mulling around the idea of putting in an application for Cap Air. I am currently instructing and things have definitely slowed down but hopefully that shouldn't last long. If things pick back up I could hit 1500hrs by Sep/Oct.
Cape Air seems like a great place to work and I would love the opportunity to work there. I honestly don't know if I should continue slugging it out instructing or push off going to the regionals for another 16 months by going over to Cape Air.
I want a new challenge and like the kind of experience I could get at Cape but would hate to make a move that could hurt an airline career (seniority is everything etc).
At the end of the day it is my decision to make and any insight from those of you that have been around for a while would be greatly appreciated.

Cape Air was the best thing I ever did, but YMMV in this climate. I was over there after a furlough, and it was a great job compared to what I could have been doing.

less work more pay, keep moving forward. My biggest regret has been getting stuck eight years ago.

Cape air. You will have better stories to tell than if you only instruct and fly jets 121. If you're a hardcore careerist you could probably make an argument for going straight to a regional, but i enjoyed my year in light twins.

This is deep down how I feel. I want some different experiences and I want to have some fun with this career I just wish I had started when I was younger.

1500 hrs and ATP mins? If you can get ATP mins in 6 - 8 months it's prob worth just slogging it out if it's part 121 you want to end up at. Cape Air would be a good move none the less and won't hurt your career that's for sure.

You're mulling around the idea of putting in an application...but you don't have a job offer. Yet you're here asking if you should go work there?

Put in an application. Get a job offer. Then decide. And by the way, the choice you should make is to go work there. Twin engine time FTW

Good luck

@staledog You make a good point and that definitely went through my head when I posted this.I don't really believe in applying for a job unless I am serious about accepting if an offer is presented but you're absolutely right. I submitted the application and we will see what happens. My wife always says I think about this kind of crap too much.
I am already sitting with 400 Multi PIC so thats not really an issue.

Well now that I know you have 400 multi that kind of changes my view. I figured you had a lot less (I know I did as a 1000 hour CFI). Do you want to go regional? It sounds that way. You mentioned being stuck at Cape for 16 months...do they have a training contract?

You said you applied, that's good because even if they never call, you tried. Even if they interview you and don't offer a job, you get interview experience, which is good. And if they offer a job, then you have an option on what do to with your career.

You beat me to it.

(Also, more engines is more better.)

I have a very dear friend currently at Cair; I heartily recommend them. (121 guy here; kind of wish I'd had the chance to try the Cape life out, truthfully.)

Stick it out instructing. Fly a light twin on your days off after you get off first year pay at a regional.

I believe their training contract is 12 months past upgrade. So figuring time to upgrade plus 12.
My current instructing gig is 7 days a week with students that most times make me feel like I am doing my work than they are for THEIR ratings. To say it is killing me slowly would be an understatement.
Most of you are saying exactly what I already feel, guess I just needed to hear it form a group of people who's opinions I respect.
