ADS-B Delays Could Ground 1,000 Bizjets

I love the idea that I have to pay nearly 25% of my hull value to meet the 2020 deadline. As stated, with the deadline coming closer, it'll increase.
Do you actually have to have it though? I'm not getting it, because it's expensive and I don't fly in Class C and B airspace.

I'm 94% clear of Class C when I fly (never B). I have flown to KMSN a number of times to go play Army in the Hawk. Not having UAT/ES would hamper that.
I need to replace my 250XL in order to get GPS out. I found a plug and play (mostly) Xpndr to replace my KT76A.

I'm looking at at least $4000 for the hardware, let alone the labor to remove and replace. FML.

However...

I'm doing a pre-buy on a 180, as I type. But the conundrum is still there. I might pony up the $$$ and make if IFR with a GNS430 (w?)
I want to say a KLN89B has GPS out as well.

KLN89B doesn't meet specs as a gps source for ADSB

If you're going IFR, then ya, you're going to need it. But for your Stinson, I can't see any reason to get it. I don't even have a transponder, and the couple times I've flown through or into C, I just call them and ask before hand and it's never been an issue. I can't imagine that'll change.

You're shopping at the wrong place. I bought a new 2020 compliant transponder for $2,700. Had it installed for another $1,000, then I got the $500 rebate.
