Have a local friend that wants to start training but doesn't know if he can pass medical because he has Adhd and must take concerta daily.

I told him to talk to ame but he doesn't want to spend money and get shot down...obviously he is new to aviation, cheapskate!!

No. ADHD severe enough to require medication is disqualifying.

If he applies for a medical certificate, he will have to report the history of ADHD and provide copies of medical records to the FAA for their review.

I've had students that reported their ritalin or adderal usage and they were disqualified for a certificate by OKC.

Doc,
On a related note, how long would someone have to be off ADHD meds if they could demonstrate they no longer needed to be controlled by medication.

1-2 months. The FAA will probably ask for psychological testing to determine if it is safe to issues a medical certificate.
