ADD a problem?

I have a student who is just starting to fly and is 15 yrs old so he is below the 16 year old student pilot cert. minimum age. We were talking about medicals and he said he takes meds for ADD. Is this something that could cause problems/delays in getting a medical certificate after he turns 16? I'm not sure what the meds are that he is taking and that may factor in. If there is a problem with ADD what are the best solutions to it? Thanks!

ADD requires an review by the FAA. He must be off medications (none are approved), will have to submit copies of ALL of his medical records pertaining to ADD, and will probably have to have a psychological evaluation with some testing performed to insure he can function in the cockpit. It is a pretty big deal.
