Actually heard on ATC today.

I actually called Langen and asked for his exact position - wanted to make sure I was well out of the way! Had a laugh though!

I've heard that when Air Force 1 is going somewhere the call ups and clearances are more like AF1 is taking off Rwy 12L. One of the other instructors I work with said a TRACON controller said it is one of easy flight to work because they tell him what they are doing, not the other way around as with other traffic.

yeah, that might be the case...i dont know...i do know that i heard the controller issue a clearance and then give us a traffic advisory. we were eye to eye with the beast. the controller might have just been used to giving the orders, not receiving them.

I went out onto our ramp to see AF-1 land in Daytona. We were listening to a scanner and they way overshot final. Approach told them to fly a heading to their left and AF-1 told approach they would do a right 270 to get back on final. On landing they ate up about 9000' out of 9800' usable. Must be nice to make up your own clearances after flying like that.
