Action Multi Ratings - Groton, CT

Anyone have the skinny on them?

I'm looking into their three day MEI program. I've got family that lives out there so I wouldn't have to worry about a hotel or rental car. Seems like a fair price at $1590, everything included (7 hours in a Seneca).

Thanks

I've done 2 ratings with them (comm multi add-on and MEI) and would highly recommend them. They will get you through the program in the price/time quoted, no B.S. tactics or anything like that. Instructors are experienced in the aircraft. School owner is an A&P with I.A. so the airplanes are rarely down, and if there is a problem he fixes them right away.

Only draw back is there are some things you won't do during the MEI training, like engine cuts on takeoff roll, and single engine go arounds. Not sure why these aren't practiced.

PM me if you'd like more detail.

well, engine cuts on takeoff roll should be practiced. they are safe when you have a CFI that knows what theyre doing.

as for single engine go arounds, thats not something a seneca does very well, thus making it a safety issue. its also not in the PTS.

Wow.. funny someone made a post about this place, I just went in yesterday and have my training scheduled in 2 weeks. Will let you know how it goes. The place seems like a pretty small opperation but the people are friendly and has gotten good reviews. And the price is definitely right!

Most people I know getting any of their multi ratings in this area are going through action. I am doing my COM Multi at the end of July with them, so if you still need info by then i'd be happy to blog up a daily journal for ya.

Speaking of multi ratings and people going to action....Anyone interested in splitting some multi block time in the next couple months from this area?

iwareboy, I see your from NY/Connecticut.

Let me know if anyone would be interested.

I'd be interested if "things" don't work for me in July, but where do you plan to rent? Action does not rent their multi aircraft. Aero aviation in Danbury is the only place in CT I could locate a twin for rental. Metro in Hartford rents them but requires 100 multi PIC.

Do you have any other options in CT for rental?

I passed my CMEL-I today via Action Multi-ratings. Overall I highly recommend the place. The instructors are cool and know how to teach you what you need to know. One reason it worked out really well for me is I live in the area part-time, if you had to stay at a hotel it might be tricky only because the weather in CT can be unpredictable. I guess if it rains, you can always goto the casino! PM me if you have any specific questions.
