Congrats! What is a PPL refresher course?
At the University of North Dakota, if u come in to the school with a Private Pilot, then place you in an abbreviated flight course to test your skills and make sure you ARE really a PPL. This is also a way for them to begin to teach you the UND procedures and polices.
Wouldn't you have a nice little plastic certificate or piece of paper you could show them?
I can understand a trip around the pattern with an instructor. But 1.9? Give me a break.
1.9 for the" checkride." Probably 15 hours of "refresher" training.
Have fun in 221 middies!![]()
Just to play devil's advocate... I taught at a 141 school and the variety of people who came in with their private tickets was shocking. Some were better sticks and better airmen than many commercial pilots at the school, but some should not have been allowed to solo. Oh, and don't get me started about the guys that are "almost done with their private, just need a review to take the ride part 61". I flew with one of those who was the absolute, no-BS, WORST pilot I have ever had the misfortune to share an airplane with. So I think a Standardization class is a must at any University/141 program for people transitioning in with a pilot certificate. Its totally just so they can squeeze a little more money out of the students.
My college used to be able to bring in your cert and get credit for an addidtional rating. I asked about it for my glider add on and they said I can bring it in whenever... then... next semester BAM you needed to demonstrate to a faculty member that you REALLY DID have that rating and all skills associated by taking the prof. up in the plane. Min time... 1.0 :insane:
