ACE College Credits

I was just wondering if anyone has gotten the ACE College Credits for their training at the Academy. Does anyone see any benefits of getting an Aeronautical Science or any other related degree if you are to be an ATCS? Also, do you know how many total credits you get through the ACE program for the basics and terminal training? Thanks!

i have an aviation administration degree. i don't really think it makes much difference as long as you have a four year degree. well, to be a controller you don't actually need a degree but it's good to have something to fall back on. if atc falls through, i suppose i'd work some sort of airline management job.

I have a business aviation management degree and I'll tell you...It sure has made my time at the academy much smoother than some of the other OTS guys and gals.

Well, the OTS guys and gals don't really have any knowledge in aviation...they're starting from scratch. The basics class I was in was cake for me. I just sat back and listened, didn't really have to do much studying on my own.

Others were constantly studying and learning while I was able to adjust to what life is gonna be like for a while and enjoy myself.

Tower is a bit different, because it is a lot of stuff I did not cover while in school...but based on my experiences from school and flying, it is still easy for me to apply what we're learning.

Thanks. Just asking cause I also have an Aviation Management degree and a PPL. I was wondering if basics would be more like a refresher. That is good news, knowing I will have a bit of time to get settled in.

Perfect word for the basics course...a refresher!! Most of the stuff was things I hadn't covered in some time...don't get me wrong, I didn't know everything that was taught, but when we have 4 weeks of class and I only have to spend say, two days, learning new material...well, yeah, nice and easy when compared to the others.

You'll do fine :)

That is good news for me then. I start basics "Enroute", on June 20th. I to have my PPL with instrument rating. I passed my commercial written but never took my checkride due to a friend being killed in the rental companies aircraft. I am looking forward to this. I currently work for the FAA here at Houston Center but on the Tech Ops side, so switching over to Air Traffic is going to be a very rewarding and interesting situation.

I am intrested as well. Which schools accept the ACE credits? I'm sure this is a retorical question, however, are they for specific programs? Also, the ammount of credits recieved was never mentioned. I'm a junior at UCF at the moment, and will be putting all of that on hold if I get a job with the FAA (with plans of possibly doing online classes after getting situated and checked out if time permits). Any positive input is greatly appreciated.
