Accelerated Flight Training

A good friend of mine just finished his instrument rating locally (SEA area). It took him a while due to consistent bad weather this winter. Despite my attempted intervention, he wants to fly professionally and would like to get his commercial single and multi next. I've been away from flight training for a long time so I'm not very in the know regarding good flight schools for accelerated training. The only two I'm aware of are ATP and Shebles. ATP seems overpriced and I feel like there has to be some higher quality training than Shebles available. Perhaps I've just been away from that sector of aviation for too long and that's a fair price and/or Shebles is decent training but I wanted to see if anyone here had any good suggestions before I recommend somewhere for him to go. ATP seems overpriced and I feel like there has to be some higher quality training than Shebles available.

If you break down ATP, it is not overly expensive for what you receive, in my humble opinion. If your friend were to do the 90 day fast track (I know he has his IR but just go with me for a minute) he would be guaranteed 100(ish) multi hours, as well as an instructor job - so long as he doesn't bust a bunch of rides. For all the ratings that your friend earns while at ATP, along with that all important multi time, he would be paying around $60,000. Compare that to Western Michigan for a moment, or any other large university flight school. If you were to do everything through WMU, and pay through the nose for 40ish hours of Seminole time to equal ATP after your CML, you are looking at $87,000 all said and done. If he wants the ratings fast and wants a well known flight school, ATP may not be a bad option. Disclaimer: I know that people have varied opinions about ATP, and I did not go there. I also realize that nothing is ever truly guaranteed in aviation, so a grain of salt should be taken with the above said "guarantees." Hope he finds the right school!
