Accelerated CFI training?

Has anyone done one of the accelerated courses to get their CFI?
If so, what did you think of it, where did you go, and would you recomend it?
I have been trying to start mine at my local field but they only have one instructor that can do it(and only have 2 others also because 3 have left for the airlines) and they have been telling me for a month we would start and nothing yet.
I am thinking of one of the accelerated courses to go ahead and get it done.
Any replies would be appreciated,

I did accelerated CFI training through ATP. With enough self study and prep you'll be fine. I nailed my checkride(s) with the FSDO with ease.
 
I did my initial CFI at Sheble, but I only went there for the sign-off and the checkride. I spent about 6 months preparing for it, but when it came time for the checkride, I was a full time ground instructor at a school who's only complex airplane was a Seminole. The only MEI at the school who was a 2 year instructor was the Chief pilot and he had almost no time at all to train me, especially since I had to get up to speed in the Seminole which I had never flow, and get profficient enough for a FSDO checkride. I just went to Sheble to get it done and over with. With the amount of training they actually did the week I was there, there's no way it would produce a competant instructor with that alone. The only reason it worked for me was because I had been training for it for 6 months, and had been ground instructing on top of that which helped a lot. Accelerated programs are great for a quickie checkride, but not so good for the actual training.

I think 10 days is enough time, but it all depends on the student. I completed my CFI.I tickets at an accelerated school in 8 days. We flew 3-4 flights a day, did ground in-between, and I studied every night into the late hours, and I also prepped for a couple of weeks before I started. I prefer this method vs dragging it out over several months doing a flight here and there.

Sorry, correction to my post... I just found my expense records. My courses took 11 days. Also, I had all 3 written exams complete before training.

CFII was $2600, 4 days, 10 hours dual.
CFI was $4700, 7 days, 21 hours dual.

Costs included everything - text books, oral study guides, checkrides, examiner fees, written exam fees, airplane, instructor.

I agree with SmitteyB that it should cost less. I had a former military pilot/IP, and he wanted to do a lot of extra things, like 1 day of low level mountain flying/navigating (it was well worth the extra day!). Hope this isn't too much detail, but just wanted to show you an example of what it took doing it full time at another school.
