ABX Air Cargo - November 2024 Thread

I applied. What is there to do in the region? How is commuting in Winter from Cincinnati? If I were gonna do it I would go there since it seems like the most interesting of the 3 cities. Im assuming there aren’t many young professionals in Wilmington proper to socialise with??
I’ll message you

As someone who has family in Wilmington and has been there many times

I hope you like corn

What about snow? Thats my biggest worry I’m from Western Illinois and we would get some snow storms that made it functionally/reasonably impossible to take travel out of town.
I wouldn't worry too much about the snow. In fairness coming in from either Dayton or parts of Cinci you can end up driving some winding and hilly non highway type roads and they have the ability to get bad if you happen to drive like right when it starts snowing. I drove a sporty RWD car while I was there with normal all season tires and was always to make it there and home. They do a good job of salting and plowing so really it was never too bad. I only ever experienced 1 bad snow while I was there and the roads were fine pretty much immediately, just drive slow and buy some winter tires or chains if it's that big of a concern.

Coming from Columbus and other parts of Cincinnati you can pretty much take the highway straight into work so if that's an option then roads will generally be fine.

Does anyone have any tips for standing out for ABX? I have my ratings up to Commercial Pilot, 3+ years of Airport Operations experience and I am currently a Dispatcher at a Part 121 regional. ABX looks like a great place to work and a great place to cut your teeth on some more complex dispatching.

I would say they are probably looking for people who will be there long term, aside from that just be someone who people want to work with lol.

Anyone hear anything?
I have video interview with them next week. The recruiter, manager of flight operations and the controller instructor is on the video call.
I’m guessing they with have some STAR questions, but unsure if they will ask any dispatcher questions.
Anyone have any tips/advice on what they will ask?
