I finally saw my pal that had the run-in with the bed bugs in one of the layover hotels.

This poor guy has 84 chicken pox-like bites all over his arms.

It's disgusting.

I'd say which hotel in which city, and in which room but I don't need to fight a lawsuit. But the hotel has quarantined the floor and is fumigating it.

But, here's the trick, pull off the linens on the bed and look between each layer. Also, look in the pillowcase as well. They apparently congregate in small clusters...

You're looking for small black insects about the size of a "dog tick".

I read an article about the stuff in hotels that people bring from all corners of the earth. Gross!
 
Great, one more thing to be disgusted with while staying at hotels and thing worst part is it doesn't matter how nice or what the hotels reputation is.
 
The "nicest" hotels, as well as the nasty-horror-film-setting hotels, are suseptable to infestations.

Hotels have reduced the use of nasty harsh chemicals, which, although not the best thing for the environment and cost money, also happen to kill bugs like this.
 
agh, great. Another lengthy eat-into-sleep-time procedure I will find myself having to do on the reduced rest overnights along with the setting of numerous alarm clocks.

The common bed bug (Cimex lectularius Linnaeus) probably received its name from its close association with human bedding. Bedbugs often seek refuge in bedding during the day and feed on the bed's occupants at night. They will also lay eggs on clothing, particularly garments that are not clean. These insects are known by several names: wall louse, house bug, mahogany flat, red coat, gray backs and crimson ramblers, to name a few.

ATTENTION! According to recent research, bedbugs may be carriers of hepatitis B!
 
Thats why its very important that at layovers you go to the nearest bar and ask a nice young lady if you can kindly stay at her house errr somethin like that.

I dunno, something tells me that I'd rather have bed bugs rather than a potential case of syphyllus, losing 50% of my 401(k) and getting kicked out of the house!

maaaaan, I had to itch behind my ears, on my back, and the top of my thighs when I read this one. Quit it Doug! What I don't know won't hurt me right? :)
 
Forewarned is forearmed!

I don't keep my suitcase open on the floor in the room any more either. A few years ago I brought back a cockroach! Eww!
