ABQ Balloon Fiesta

I ended up in ABQ for the Fiesta this year. It was truly an amazing experience to see the mass ascension. Over 500 balloons launching in waves. You get caught up in watching the other waves lift off you do not realize that you are suddenly surrounded by the balloons in your area that almost block out the sun. I now know what my next rating will be!!!

Every year I keep saying to myself that this will be the year I actually go to the darn thing rather than watch it on TV. Last year, I left the country. This year, I work weekends.

That's pretty cool! I'd like to get down there to watch that one of these years.

Though I'm noticing at least 6 rather tall antennas in the background of your picture there...it might just be me, but that sounds like to a bad place to launch several hundred (thousand) aerial craft that can't control where they're going.

You would be suprised at how well these pilots can fly. I watched them land one in a used car parking lot. It was unreal right in between two rows of cars.
