Just wondering if anyone heard anything on hiring classes at US and AA for dispatch? I think I heard US having another class this year soon before moving south, and AA to follow?

Keep your eyes open on the AA career site. It's not a matter of if...but when there will be more classes. I would expect a posting to go out soon. From what I hear likely at least one more class on each side, and this will likely be entirely in DFW with the new building opening in August. Good luck in advance to all who apply.

Thats good news! Thanks!

Does AA have an official policy on a wait time for internals to apply for new positions? I start as a crew scheduler on 4/27 in PIT, so I will learn the answer soon. I'm just a little curious (and impatient) if it is a year or two years or if it depends on the manager? Thanks in advance for having patience with the repeat question. :)

One year, except for management level jobs, that can be anywhere from a year to two years. At least that's how it was when I worked for American Eagle awhile ago.

Internally, it all depends on what the hiring people are looking for. As soon as you finish probation, I would apply.

As for legacy AA, I would be surprised to see a new class before August. Not saying it wont happen but the recent history has been to wait on hiring a new class until the previous one finishes OJT. There will likely be several people from the December class still in OJT in August. In fact I would not be surprised if there is a new class at legacy AA that it could start at late as November or December. Thats going on the recent history of when classes have started.

Not signed off after nine months? Man, how long does initial training take there?

Most take 6-9 months is the average with some taking up to a year to get finished. Remember though that vacation relief for the international qualifications goes junior to new hires as more senior dispatchers drop their qualifications. Europe and Pacific are one single qualification and most new hires tend to get that qualification. The OJT for this can take several months and is especially difficult for internals hired with no dispatch experience who are still learning how to dispatch domestically. You are not considered done with training until you get your second qualification and the 6-9 months or more includes this time.

Ah OK...that makes sense then, with the international qualifications. At CO, you didn't go through international training until you'd been dispatching domestically for at least one year.

mainline or regional? Let me know how you like it sometime down the road. I have considered looking at doing something like crew scheduling while taking classes for the dispatch license.

AA is definitely my endgame. 6-9 months from class start to ones desk is similar to what I have heard, too..
If you get hired onto the legacy US side, the most recent class took three months from start of training to being checked off. Now that SOC has been achieved the training for both sides is supposedly aligned. That being said, some contractual issues will keep the training slightly different until at least collocation. The big one is that Legacy US will not qual you on international right away, where AA will due to reserve language in their contract that is not in the LUS contract.

Looks like AA dispatch position just went live. Not sure what side it is, AA or US.

For what its worth when you click to apply it takes you to a US Airways-branded webpage.

Figure with the shuttering of Envoy it will probably be filled somewhat internally...correct?
