AA-US Airways merger announcement as soon as next week

The rumor I heard was the CEO was going to be Jesus with the new company headquarters in Shangrila and 50 AN-225s on order for the new Walla, Walla, Washington to Mogadishu route. Nothing confirmed though.
Dood, don't temp me. I'll take some Russian type ratings....

I'm just crossing my fingers for the use of the APA/AMR SLI plan as used on TWA. They did a great thing by setting the precedent of seniority integration with a bankrupt carrier and I'm hoping the AA pilots get to enjoy the taste of Karma. It will be fun watching USAPA/APA and the America West guys mesh.

I haven't been following recently, but has USAPA actually managed One List?

Precisely! If it's Walla Walla I'll just stick with commuting. If it were Mog, I'm moooovin' to live in base!!!!!1!!1

yeah, about like that...

The most current info on apc is that theres 42 west guys on furlough that bypassed recall for the east side, and that no east guys can transfer to the west side until those 42 furloughs are recalled to the west side and reach a joint contract with the east side. APC also shows west guys having a separate pay scale, so that answers that, but does anyone know if the west guys are represented by USAPA or whats the deal with that?

Also other interesting info off that page is that voting ends tomorrow at us airways on an MOU for the merger..

TWA was in bankruptcy when AA took them over, US was in bankruptcy when HP took them over, now AA is in Bankruptcy and HP dba US is taking them over.

Pilot shortage!

That all sounds really complicated to me. Now, if you'll excuse me...

Not really.

AA used AA funds to buy TWA.

HP and USAirways were both purchased by outside investors.

USAirways and AA, if merged, will be merged using funds from stock (which pretty much amounts to outside investors).

Nope! As a result, FOs at most major carriers make more than their CA's do...

I had a East captain ask me how much my hourly rate was on the 76.

My answer? "I don't know"

I didn't want to sit in the cockpit and hear him bitch for hours. If you make your bed with "hospital corners", you shouldn't complain about how tight it is.

USAPA pilots passed their MOU today. 75% voted yes.

I guess they can have a seat at the adult table now.

Horton reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally doesn't want this merger. He stands to make a mint if AA emerges stand-alone. Parker totally wants this- he'd be CEO.
Personally I'd like to see them both shown the door. Neither one overly impresses me. They're both hatchet men with tool kits that remind me of Lorenzo.

While I don't disagree and I don't support airline management in general, Parker did keep US Airways, a small, non-competitive airline who NO ONE thought would survive the recession, not only alive but made them profitable. Granted it was in the back of labor but even then, while beating up labor, he managed to make Airways tops in on time performance, baggage, and complaints. I don't know how he'll fair with such a large airline but I think of the two, he's definitely the one with the better record.

"Solve our shizzle!"

Part of me wants the APA to bend USAPA over the hobby horse, but then it'd impact the good people at USAirways-West.

Eh. I'd just as soon see APA get hosed for how TWA got thumped years ago. Either way, it's going to be like that Justin Timberlake song.

He performed, sure, but I don't support anybody that has to rape the labor groups to get a business running. Nowadays the only difference between how some CEOs treat labor and how a plantation owner treats a slave is a W-2.
