AA Passenger going Berzerk on the ramp @ CLT

Hands in pockets is a classic de-escalation posture.
Removing the ID lanyard gives the nutjob less to grab & control.
Clip-on tie? You betcha!

Hands in pockets is what gets your ass kicked when said nutjob decides to rush you from that close, and you cant get your hands out of your pockets fast enough to mount any kind of defense before he's beating the crap out of you. And as skaning said, if youre going to make yourself defenseless, why stupidly stand that close to an unpredictable nutjob? If that pilot got injured, it would be from his own stupidity.

Observe and report from a distance, but someone having s manic episode will outfight you every time.

Pending they arent hyped up on something, there are ways of taking them down without having to expend time in a drawn out fight, but you have to know what youre doing. In the case for the pilot, definsively only (stop standing so close, for one). When the PD shows up, let them deal with it. Even if he takes off for a taxiway or runway, worst is he gets run over. Oh well. Happened to the dude at KPHX who wandered out from the drunk tank facility onto the runway, and got smacked by the Alaska 727 on takeoff roll years back. Jet was fine.

I’m a fat middle aged airline pilot.

He biggest struggle I’ve physically had in the last ten years was trying to get a bag of Poore Brothers chips open when we were at altitude.

The struggle is REAL!!

Poore Brothers, the pride of Goodyear, AZ!

It may be old, but it’s still great advice!

I was SO snacky that day. Man was that frustrating. I’ll bet you Americans bags are easier to open. That’s totally going on me Contract 2020 survey.

Flying costs you the shirt off your back.

American airlines, shirt optional.

Pilots tell passengers to keep their shirt on, click here to see what happens next.

Suntanning in Trump'ica.

Guy says, "I swear to God, if they thank me one more time for my patience, imma gonna lose it," but means it!

This thread is generally dissatisfying.

I should have been clearer in my criticism of the pilot with his hands in his pockets. Why are you standing that close to a nut who's swinging around and you have your hands tucked away making yourself vulnerable. We aren't paid to deal with that and being anywhere near an incident never ends well. Best to just stay on the plane.
I hear you, I misunderstood what you were saying. Better watch from the jet bridge lol. And you’re right if you’re that close you should have your hands out ready to defend yourself. Dude would be toast if that guy went after him.

I laughed so hard reading that

Better yet through a window in the flight deck with the door locked behind you.
