AA New Paint

It's kind of like when your dad brings home a new car.

Instead of the red Corvette you think he should have gotten, he brings home a sandalwood Caprice Classic station wagon.

Yeah, you laugh.

I did some of my earliest driving in the family Pontiac Grand Safari station wagon. Fake wood over white. Looked like this:

I like it! Do they have a different colour scheme for airports in New York? I can't imagine anything with a stars and stripes is permitted there.

I think it's perfect. There's nothing more American than plastering the biggest, loudest American Flag you can find on to the largest available surface. Ideally, though, it would say "MURICAN!". 8/10.

I think it safe to safe that this livery will not be around for 40 years. Maybe all the pilots will be issued obnoixiously loud american flag ties now. "Merica, #$@# yeah!"

Maybe it's a younger generation thing but I like it. Huge-ass flag on it or not, either way there's going to be a bunch of fat people waddling out of it at the end of the flight complaining about seats that are too small and a lack of peanuts.

It's not REALLY 'Murican until it kills a lot of dirt-farmers for the high crime of failing to know who the Kardashians are. True fact, look it up.

The thing is, that's not representative of the American flag. If there were stars in the blue area, sure. But the way it's designed looks like clown shoes. Or Where's Waldo.

Someone was commisioned to design a new livery and that livery was agreed upon presumably by a large comitee. Design asthetic does have value and so, yes, the paint job DOES matter for all the people who keep trying to say it doesn't.

This is definitely design-by-comitee and it shows.

The only unqualified-dedly positive receptions I've seen of the new branding have been from other "branding consultants."
