ok I am clueless guys I know I am probably going to get flamed here but is there any way other than through eagle to get a job for american also where are the most junior bases? plus I would love to be a rampy for them but i dont know how to get a job ramping for them at my local airport any ideas?

one other question does anyone know if say I became a ramp agent for AA and I live in AUS (which I do) would I be able to jumpseat to and from Austin or would I have to live in the DFW area? i know this is a ways off in the future but im curious.

More than likely, live where you work. When I was at SWA it was very, very rare to have commuting ground crew, and normally that was because they needed people badly at that station.

Just out of curiosity, why in the world would you get flamed?

Maybe he thought the statement but is there any way other than through eagle to get a job for american could set someone off. Like he was trying to bypass the normal, more expected route; whatever that may be.

If not that, then

well I have noticed unfortunately that members on this board can hardly ever post something without one person getting pissed off and running their mouth it happens here and on flightinfo.com lol but other than that this is my home away from home and I have learned more on this board than my 2 years of flight lessons (im almost to solooooooo =0)

well since I am 16 very soon I have started to apply at different FBO's in the GTU area since most of them hire at 16 do you think this experience will help me get a ramp agent job with an airline at 18?

I'll probably get flamed for this myself (mods, protect me!

) but getting a ramp job probably isn't all that hard. Considering you're working outside, time compressed in all sorts of weather for not a lot of money, and I saw an ad for Mesa Airlines looking for rampers on cable this afternoon, I wouldn't worry too much!

Think I heard that on the radio this afternoon on the way back to work from lunch.
Think the starting pay is hmmmm $7-8.00 an hour. And think it's only PT no thanks.

In fact, I just saw it on between "The Family Guy" and "Futurama" on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network.

"..and remember.....with Mesa.... you fly for FREE!"

Ability to fly strandby, that'll lasso the babes...

Maybe he asked this question on a.net first? That'd explain it!

Yea and heard the commercial twice in the same hour this weekend on Power 92.
Sounds like Mesa is desperate for some ramp help...

Ok, if you want a job with American going through Eagle is definitely NOT the way to do it. The "two companies" don't exactly see eye to eye.

Apply online. You can be based where you live assuming that they need people at that base. You probably aren't going to commute in order to work the ramp, that would not be easy or fun. You won't make a lot of money hourly, but over the course of a month you'll make considerably more than me

From what I've heard Mesa is ALWAYS looking for ramp help. Something to do with PHX heat and low wages......
