AA Hiring

Cool story. Don't work at compass so your comment is irrelevant. But please do go on, since you have all the answers.
 
Not all the answers, just similar ones to the other AA guy posting. We've been around AA a long time. We know how it works and you didn't want to hear it and it came down to name calling. I sure hope we don't go external. Because if this is all that is left after DL, SW and UAL has hired, we probably don't want you anyway. Obviously they didn't.

I can assure you, that not all of us that are left are looking to name call, rather use our skills to dx for a major that we seek.

Those that have dx experience is the key word and while that is a benefit, I would wager to say so are those of us that have stayed in dx at lower levels, improving ourselves and waiting for an opportunity to move up should be given fair consideration. I would also like to note that internals, even with dx experience, don't always translate into the best dispatchers. To be fair, in my experience I haven't seen either that didn't have a lot of problems adjusting to the dx processes, policies, work flows. etc., but as you said it is the ones with a certificate and zero dx experience to their credit trying to make a start somewhere beyond a regional or very small operator that faces the learning challenge, and a floor of a major is not where that needs to be happening.

The way I see it, internal or external, is to just keep working hard, keep your knowledge up, remain persistent, make connections (though I almost feel dirty saying the word now), and apply to the postings. Sure, you may not get on this time, but the external/internal preference at certain airlines has been known to oscillate over time.

Why feel that it's a dirty word? It's part of life, for cryin' out loud! Just about everyone who has connections will USE them when needed.
 
My connections, but most importantly my reputation, is what got me in. I busted my behind and became a valuable asset in my previous department. I won't apologize for that.

My class was 1/3 external, 1/3 envoy, and 1/3 internal and I think we've all turned out pretty well.

I think a good reputation should speak well for ones work at another dx office as well. I won't apologize for my good rep and work ethic, either.
