Brothers Busted for Assaulting AA Flight Crew:
Pair arrested at Miami International Airport for beating pilot, flight attendant

NBC Miami said:
Two brothers were arrested at Miami International Airport Wednesday night after they allegedly assaulted an American Airlines flight crew, police said.

According to a Miami-Dade Police arrest report, American Airlines Flight 1755 was leaving the gate for its flight to San Francisco just before 9 p.m. when a flight attendant noticed a man, identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Baez, was sleeping and wasn't wearing his seat belt.

When the flight attendant tried to wake Baez up, he was unresponsive and appeared to be intoxicated or on drugs, the report said.
The pilot decided to return to the gate, where he and the flight attendant tried to wake Baez up. After several attempts, Baez was finally woken up and asked to leave the plane due to his condition, the report said.

As the crew was taking Baez off the plane, his brother, 29-year-old Luis Daniel Baez, decided to get off the plane to be with his brother.

Police say the pair became belligerent with the pilot and flight attendant, threatening the pilot's life.
"When you fly to San Juan I will have you killed," Luis Baez told the pilot, according to the report.

After they had been taken off the plane, Luis Baez returned and punched the pilot in the face, causing a bruise, lacerations and blurred vision in his left eye, the report said.

When the flight attendant tried to intervene, Jonathan Baez hit her in the shoulder, according to the report.

The Baez brothers weren't done with the pilot, attacking him and beating him in the jet bridge, the report said.

The report said they punched him throughout his body and chest, and chased him into the terminal where they continued to beat him.

Other flight crew members and passengers intervened and were able to keep the Baez brothers until police arrived.

Pair of real winners there:

Wow! Unbelievable. Lets hope extreme airline hooligans like this get banned from ever flying. Id like to have seen them get a more appropriate beat down by the passengers.

The primary reason why if you're going to boot someone from the airplane, demand the agent, the GSC AND the airport police meet the aircraft, every time, without a doubt.

Doesn't matter if you're giving some grandma and her irregular shih-tsuh the boot, all three.

I've seen a number of passengers removed, one a few days ago and with the "trifecta" if some jack-wagon wants to pull something like this, he's going to get a very public beat-down by the proper authorities.

Keep in mind that in America, no one cares if you've got two, three or four stripes so do not hesitate to call security.

Just a friendly reminder. Don't pull a weapon out unless you intend to actually use it, as in your life is in jeopardy. I am all for being able to carry a gun, but you should only pull it out if you intend to use it. Otherwise it could turn into a very bad situation that could end up costing you your life. And I'd reason to bet that an FFDO wouldn't have pulled on these guys.

For the non-FFDO's, a weapon without proper tactical training is nothing more than wishful thinking and false bravado.

I've got some friends that think their gat is going to protect them during a zombie apocalypse, but any Joe Blow with a little bit of ghetto will have that weapon out of their hand and pointed at them with catlike quickness.

Well his life doesn't have to be threatened to use his firearm, at least in my state you may use lethal force to prevent great bodily harm. Who's to say when these thugs would have stopped beating your face in? Plenty of people have died from bare first punches.

That, coupled with the fact that the guy even said he'd have him killed.

FFDO would not have been able to do a thing differently in this situation. Weapon or not, the situation would have been the same.

This misses one very salient point: Beating someone is using deadly force. People have in fact been killed with just one punch to the face/head. We all have a tendency to forget that because of the way Hollywood portrays fistfights, but the reality is that most such fights end with one person unconscious or worse after the first punch is thrown.

Cynthia Austin, an attorney from Jacksonville, Fla., who was traveling on the flight with her sons, told KTVU she thought the confrontation could have been avoided. She was seated next to the door and witnessed the assault.
“It was really unfortunate,” said Austin after deplaning in San Francisco. “The entire incident could have been avoided if there had been a better communication process. The gentleman involved spoke very little English and was very ill.”
“I guess it was assumed he was intoxicated but I think they’ve learned he was on some kind of pain medication. He was non-responsive when they tried to get him to move.”
Austin was sitting next to the door so she witnessed the confrontation in the jetway.
“They (the Baez brothers) refused to leave the plane," she told KTVU. "They couldn’t communicate. They were speaking Spanish. They were told to go, but they said they wanted their package. They were not going to leave without it.”

I (edit) hate lawyers!!!! Somebody smells a new client :/

No weapon needed. Pilot should've beat his ass.....where was the FO? Possible lousy CRM. CRM applies to a combined ass beating too.
