I heard we are gonna have to wear hats
Neither company has to wear hats as it is now, so why change it?
The hipster style pants will piss off far moreThats gonna piss off the guys on both sides that already have black leather jackets.
I don't think wearing hats indoors is professional nor practical. You can look like a slob or look professional regardless of what the uniform is.Because it's professional.
What's a hipster style pants? The only thing I think of with hipsters is pastel colored tank tops. The hipster style pants will piss off far more

I personally think that some sort of suit/uniform etiquette class should be taught during indoc.
I think there is a multiple point issue with that:Exactly.

M&H is just the reseller. The company buys it and has M&H sell it. I had M&H product at my last company and it was good stuff. The M&H on the Airways side is horrible. I have the sharkskin IIRC, both at US and at my commuter. There is a huge difference in quality.I wore M&H flying for a part 135 cargo op. I unloaded airplanes on occasion, and my pants look just as good now as they did when I bought them. I think that the complaint about the pants is with the "tropical" weight fabric. That stuff is think and junk. I have not worn the jacket or tie, so I can't tell you about those. The pants were $40something dollars, which isn't bad at all for dress pants.
My regional gives me $400 a year, so hopefully that will be enough to maintain a decent uniform - although it looks like I will be spending all of it on grey stuff next year.
I think there is a multiple point issue with that:
1) The company doesn't provide uniforms, even my commuter gave us $260/yr for a uniform allowance
2) The uniform vendor (currently M&H on US side) uses absolutely bottom basement crap. My button on my $150 jacket fell off MY FIRST DAY of OE. My tie, after being worn for approx. 6 months on the line, has developed holes in it. Pants are thin and wear out very fast, my crouch area has the seams coming undone already.
3) The prices of the pants jacket are more expensive than the high end stuff you can buy in the department stores in your local mall.
Where do you work? The US black pants at M&H are $55+ $5 to size up the leg, so $60+ shipping.
Those guys have been beaten down for three decades. I really don't blame them. You can make crap look professional.
My issues are with proper etiquette concerning how to wear the "suit" that is our uniform, not with the quality of the material.

Hmm that's interesting. I got them at the PHX training center, as did everyone else in my class.I bought them directly from the store in ATL - and I paid $109.58 for 2 pairs of pants, with tax and tailoring included (just checked my credit card statement from then to confirm). They were the sharkskin pants.
Maybe flows? I dunno, I haven't seen very many new hires look bad. Almost all look sharp. And the new hires??

I have no idea how the company feels. The primary thing they care about is people showing up for work on time. That's pretty much how you get fired. So they aren't supposed to follow their professional responsibility?
I cant wait to see a 30 year Piedmont DH8 capt wear his new double breasted coat.So they aren't supposed to follow their professional responsibility?
