There was an old TWA Navigator that used to be on Connie's that was going to teach a couple of us celestial navigation but he went on Hospice the week after we first got together.

I once worked a KC-135 practicing celestial navigation. It was pretty impressive, he was maybe 2 miles off centerline on the victor route and hit the turns perfectly

Well, apparently someone reached for the flap handle before it was ‘commanded’ and someone got triggered.

I’m not sure if it’s urban legend or not, but it’s been an ongoing joke.

I got to the point as an FO I would just look at the hand, look at them, say nothing, and go back to my scan.

Oddly enough the only flight control issue I had in my five years on Fifi occurred on a redeye from LAS. It woke us up pretty well.

For the longest time after I could finally hold mostly daytime flying I still had a Pavlovian response and reached up and turned on the reading light every time the captain called for the descent checklist.
