Re: A320/B737NG Captain - Shenzhen Airlines - $177,400 USD/y

Just out of curiosity has anyone here ever done something like this, and how did you like it? What's it like flying a 737/a320 single pilot?

This was the airline I trained students for, you will be flying this aircraft single pilot.

I've done some of their checkrides......got blacklisted by cookie cutter flight school for not rubber stamping them, especially the ones with serious english problems...

I felt as if I was going to lose my job each day due to one special chinamen. I was probably in the chief pilots office on a weekly basis trying to be pressured into signing him off. It's all about the paycheck from these airlines, and has ZERO to do with safety. Of course the scottsdale fsdo just doesn't give a damn though.

I've something like 800 hours of Chinese Dual Given (it's a separate log book column), some were better than others.

I like the fact that they own their pilot group.

Roger that...

I would be curious to see some of the accident statistics from these asian/chines airlines. Are they really that unsafe? The students we deal with here are pretty bad, but how do they end up once they complete their boeing or airbus training and start flying the line? Maybe they struggle through learning how to fly a Cherokee AND speak english at the same time, but I know I would struggle if I had to learn to fly in China AND learn Chinese at the same time!

The last airbus/737 (can't remember which) crash were the captain ducked way below minimums and I'm sure the sandbag FO didn't say crap, was one of our old students. Killed a whole boatload of people about a year ago, maybe a little longer.

Not to rain on the party here, but you do know that there are people qualified and perhaps interested in this opportunity. Especially in light of the instability of the industry as some approach retirement.

Yes, the industry is a fishbowl, but it's somewhat a larger fishbowl that many of our current goals and qualifications.

Chinese Dual Given (it's a separate log book column),

That is perhaps one of the funniest logbook columns I've read about in a long time. I understand EXACTLY why you have it, I just never thought of it. Next Jepp Pro Pilot logbook should have columns like that. I'd buy it! LOL :)
