A word to everyone.

Oh hell, me too! :) She's got an airline pilot's schedule, four days a week!

Pilot's schedule for sure, but can she land a plane with one inop engine? Great job by that crew. I wonder whose leg it was?

It was the webmaster's, naturally! :)

Probably the best kudos I got was that the captain said, "Well, normally I'd take control but I understood you knew what the hell you were doing so I just did the secretarial work and watched" then bought the adult beverages for the entire crew that evening so that was pretty cool! :) A little recognition goes a long way.

You two aren't gonna stop posting and let me go to bed are you?

:)

Shhot, Max... You're almost there now. You're better off staying up and doing those last minute tasks. whatever they be. Just think of it as training for NJC... Where sleep is a four letter word. :D

Outstanding! As for taking over, is there really that much time to do that. I would think (not really knowing), that in that type of event having the controls taken away could create more of a hazard. When you're in flying mode, I would think it's different than non-flying mode. Switching tasks would seem non-productive at that point.

had the Capt. ever had the same problem?

Most guys have you 'felt out' after your first leg so generally if you've got some experience on the airframe, they'll take the "you break it, you fly it" angle on the abnormal. Actually, being the flying pilot was a lot easier because I've been on the same airplane since 2000, have done it a zillion times in the sim and all I had to do was talk to ATC and fly the aircraft. Piece of cake. He had to 'go off the grid', run long checklists, brief the flight attendants, talk to the passengers and then absorb a lot of information when he came back into the program on the approach. By the time he got back in the groove, I already had the gear down and the final flaps in.

Not in the civilian world. But while he was an A-10 pilot he had a lot of shutdowns because you're flying low and slow all the time and apparently those engines love to injest birds.
