A question for you Metroliner pilots

We have a DHL metroliner come through our airport every night and I was wondering.

Why right before they start to taxi the rev the engine twice (or change the pitch of the prop) and the plane nudges backwards and then they taxi. Are they checking reverse thrust?

I could probly ask the guy but hes always gone by the time I get to take my break in the line office.

They arent checking the rev, they are realsing the locking pins that keep the props from going to feather on shutdown (Notice how metros dont feather on shutdown and a kingair does?)thats directdrive vs. reverse flow.
This is common and mustdo practice on direct drive turboprop engines.
