A pilot's pants...

Land`s end is not what it use to be anymore, the quality of their pants and clothes in general has gone down a lot, at least that`s my personal experience with that brand over the past 5-7 years.

That's sucks, they used to be nice. I haven't had a need to buy any for a while, guess I'll be looking elsewhere when I do.

+1 for the cop store uniform pants, I have 4 pairs of the Flying Cross brand pants and through constant rotation they have lasted me several years. I think I'm going on 4+ years. Dry cleaned most of the time with an occasional trip through the washer.

To me I had the best luck with pants when I bought a halfway decent brand from a reputable place that has a tailor that knows what they are doing. There actually exists a pair of pants for every body type you just have to find a place that has a) several options and b) someone who knows what they are doing. I'll even pay a little extra for that. I've had decent luck in the past with Jos A. Bank and Men's Warehouse for work pants. Also, like any pair of shoes or artical of clothing if you wear the same one EVERYDAY of work guess what? They won't last!!!! So when you buy new pieces buy 3 pairs of pants for example so you can actually make them last.

Very true.

For the past 5 years I have been living pretty much out of a suitcase, as I have been traveling and living in so many places. I tend to wear the same clothes more often, and as a result they also get washed a lot more...yes they do last a lot less then if you can keep several pieces of each garment and wear it less frequently. I try to buy the best quality possible, even if it`s $$$ but yet it was hard to make them last, shoes are a big problem, but I found out that if I take good care of my leather ones, clean and oil them once a week they last twice as much, buying quality also helps.

I recently started researching very high quality everyday clothes, and found a ton of very nice US made stuff, yes maybe the big and most popular brands left the US but there is literally 10s of little brands that still make everything in the US, from dress-up to casual, everything is of outstanding quality.

Looks like I'm off the the uniform store. Like I said, all the pants I buy fit at the waist... It's just in the crotch area where they don't seem to fit. And if I buy a bigger waist size then they fit too baggy in the calf region and fit awkwardly. Maybe I'll just shell out for a few pair of nice tailored pants if these cop pants don't work

I've been wearing J.Ferrer dress pants(J.C. Penny brand?) for 6 months. Two pair, so between the two, 3 months. Haven't torn them yet. Was warned the first day I wore them that I was gonna rip/snag them on something, still fine. Freight by the way. I don't think I'd stress even the skinniest of skinny jeans though... :)

Dickies also suck in the cold. They made me feel colder at least.

Where are you wearing them? Do you have them hiked up to where old people think the waist line is(high), or do you wear them lower? That could be your problem too. For example, Express pants are meant to be worn quite low, like if you saw a pretty lady, it could be an issue. :) Hike those up and they'll rip in a heartbeat.

I'm a size 30-32 and like slim fit pants. Macy's had Alfani brand navy dress pants that were $130'ish and buy one get one half off. They're 2+ years now and still look new. They also get dry cleaned on a regular basis.

For when it has to be pants, I've been going with Docker's for the most part. BDU pants from the Army-Navy place when working in the hangar. Most of the time it is cargo shorts, except for the seaplane stuff then it's boardshorts.

I second the idea of Fire/EMT/LE uniform pants. That's just about the most durable clothing you'll get.

If any traditional dress slacks will work you may want to check out a company called Bonobos. I do not work for them, not affiliated in any way--just a loyal and satisfied customer. I can vouch for the quality being excellent, as well as the customer service and return/exchange process being topnotch. I've been wearing their stuff since they got started a few years ago. Check out the non-iron wrinkle resistant slacks, or the formal dress slacks.

If anyone wants, I can send a referral email with a code for $25 off your order of 75$ or more. Shoot me a PM with your email and ill send it over.
Full disclosure: I believe they give me a $25 credit for each person who actually orders with the referral.

Edit: I hope this is allowed--if not my apologies in advance

I've been rocking the Haggars eco pants for a few years now. Works well, last long time. As to M&H, most of their stuff sucks, but I did get 5 years of wear out of the original M&H pants I got as a new hire before they gave up the fight.

Haggar Cool 18s, bought at JC Penny. They are cheap, roughly $35 a pop, I've been rotating through three pairs for about a year and a half with no plans on replacing any time soon.

I buy HAGAR brand pants for my uniform... you can find them at JCPenny's and Kohl's and other such places...
They are synthetic, breathe well, and have a perma-crease/are wrinkle free.

It helps that we wear black/gold, but when I wore blue/silve I still used Hagar pants, just slightly off from the actual uniform color. Flying the Saab in Houston during summer, I didn't care if I was one Pantone shade off!
