A part 61 success story...

Snow I disagree. There are plenty of people in part 61 and 141 that slip through and get a rating they don't necessarily deserve unfortunately. I've trained at FSA and various Part 61 schools and see no correlation. Also, how you talk on the radio is the product of the airport you're accustomed to not the school you went to.
 
I did everything part 61. Now I teach at a 141 school and everyone I work with asks me "where I trained". The best is one time a Mom of a ERAU student asks me where I graduated from and when I said I haven't finished my non av. degree from a non av. school, she almost fell over in shock that I was somehow able to get a CFI job without a UND/ASU/ERAU sticker on my resume...amazing.....
 
61 is definately the way to go! I'm a big fan of the smaller places, and the quality of training is not dependent on the school; it's dependent on the instructor / student.
