A&P to Pilot

@Urp99, I generally agree with R2, although I don't share his attitude of "hopeless negativism. Consider the lillies of the GD field." [With apologies to the Coen brothers.]. Pilot mechanics are sought after in Alaska, and as R2 says, at some outfits they are mechanics first and pilots second or pilots rarely, so you need to do your homework. If you want to be a pilot first and a mechanic occasionally I know there is an outfit in Aniak that would be very interested in you. Actually, maybe two outfits. There is another in Nome. It wouldn't be surprising if @ppragman could list half a dozen outfits, both in Anchorage and in the bush.

Follow R2's advice and come up in January armed with a bunch of resumes. Plan to rent a car and stay for a week. You will have no difficulty finding companies who want to talk to you. Put Sportsmans on your list. Maybe Andrews (in Kodiak). Maybe Lee's Sea Air (in Kiana).

Best of luck to you.
