Just curious, I'm an A&P/IA with 23 years of experience on singles and light twins, mostly piston powered but some PT-6 experience. I've also been a pilot for 24 years (400 hrs tt) and got my commercial 2 years ago, and plan to finish my instrument training this winter with the goal of transitioning to a flight career. Is there an opportunity with a company like this to transition from maintenance to a flight position?

I have some pilots who are also mechanics that work maintenance on our fleet over the summer then go back to flying when the season fires back up. Having the A&P/IA and also being a pilot is a big plus. That said, I've already filled the A&P/IA position and have all the pilot seats filled for the season. Why don't you send me a resume anyway and I might be able to find something for you at some point.

Thanks for the input. I'm actually committed to my current employer through March 2017, I work for an aerial applicator in central WI, and winter is maintenance season, but I'll send you a resume and see what happens come spring. I'm just researching entry level positions right now, my intention is to try to secure a position towing banners or gliders through the summer, and then try to get on with a survey company next fall.
