9L, 9E, XJ JCBA executive summary

I think that covers it, in every fashion and in every direction. Patience and intelligence triumphs over faux ignorance.

JrsyGuy, your persistence has only been rewarded with intellectual shaming. Perhaps it's time to quit. To pretend any longer will make the readers on this forum question your literacy, since we already know your motives.

You're just upset that you couldn't run far enough away from colgan and now 9L guys are going to pass you up in seniority. Don't take it out on me. My views are certainly not limited to me. Everyone I talk to feels the same way.

Well I think SLI is still up in the air, but I get your point. Reality is, Colgan is a place you leave behind, not regret leaving. I do regret spending a whole year at Colgan, I should have left earlier and said to the hell with that "training contract". Leaving Colgan was the right thing to do, and I may be below you when the SLI is complete but it was worth it. Besides if I had stayed I'd have to be apologizing for you on the board.

Oh, and none of this changes the fact that you are embarrassing yourself.

I agree. The others just don't get it.

Are you also a highly experienced 10 month Colganite?

I hope you guys who know how it should work don't cut your own nose off despite your face..

Colgan will never see a deal better than this on their own..

It. Will. Never. Happen.

You're hilarious. I can't wait to sling your gear.

It's a big company, you'll be just fine.

Always remember, a good schedule is one sick call away from a great schedule.

Honestly though, the SLI is not complete, it's completely possibly I'll be slinging gear for you, or calling in instead. Either is good.

JrsyGuy and matt:

Would you feel better about the TA if all Saab guys got the lower rate?

What would you be willing to give up so all Saab guys could get the higher rate?

Nah. You'll get bumped off the -900 and be forced to bid the -200 just to stay in MEM. Then you belong to ME. :)

Hehe, none of this is gonna matter when we are big time movie stars.

Just think, on our days off we can stock shelves at Best Buy.

I would not feel better if all Saab guys got the lower rate. The XJ guys deserve to have at minimum what is in their current contract.

As for giving things up: I will not get a 4 hour min day under the TA. Some guys in this thread talk about that not mattering, you will get 4 hour min day when BOS becomes a base. I'm not sure that the company would not staff BOS and ALB and LGA to 24 pilots. So 9L guys are looking at giving up a current 2 hour min day under the TA.

And the 14 hour duty day and extra pay for extensions and junior mans. I've been junior manned once and extended maybe three times since July. Not sure the TA would be preferable over the current arrangement.

I blocked 41 hours on reserve last month with 87 credit thanks to 2 hour min day. If that is going away with the new TA as a result of being an outstation 9L pilot, I'll pass.

Question: Is your 2 hour min day contractually guaranteed? Or is it just something the company is doing to be nice?

I am not a 9L guy so you are going to have to help me. How many Saab pilots are there in the NE. Are the bases only ALB,BHB,PQI,SYR,LGA? How many at each base?

The 14 hour day is a big deal.
Keep in mind the JM, EX wording is more about making the company staff right and less about pilots getting paid more.

Even if you are right and you would only get paid 75 hours for this month, would you take home pay be more or less?

This bears repeating since the 9E staffing model is leave lots of open time after the line awards, give what's left to the reserves and if someone calls in sick/misses their commute/gets stuck with a broken airplane, just JM or extend a line holder to cover it. When guys in the top 10% of the seniority list are getting JM and extensions, you're not staffed, but management says we are. Also, keep in mind that 9E used to operate Saabs in an oustation based format. Even before the -200 came on property, outstation basing was a thing of the past. We've already seen it start to shift at Colgan since 9E took possession. I'd be amazed if they leave the outstation bases as is and don't pull them all into a LGA or BOS hub. Then you WILL have the pilots for the 4 hour min day to kick in.

Question still wasn't answered. What in the TA would you guys be willing to give up to secure the grandfathered Saab rates? I also fail to see how a 2 hour min day would cause someone to credit 87 hours. If you only got the min day, you're looking at 40-42 hours of credit a month. For us on the jet, a 2 hour min day would be pretty darn useless. I guess I'd have to see the month that's being talked about to understand how a 2 hour min day can make a 40+ hour difference.

I'll pass.

"For every action there is an equal, yet opposite, reaction". I sincerely hope that those who are wanting to torpedo this thing think before acting. We are in new waters and will have the strongest parent letter in the industry, you want to blow it up? Don't expect life rafts. What does that contract of yours say about.... O wait, you have absolutely NO protections.
