9E TA Reached

There was a time when the MEC wasn't a bunch of salesmen for management?

Feel free to not take advantage of any laguage that has been sold to you by your MEC, actually, do one better and run for MEC Chair, that way you can change the corrupt MEC members who give up their free time to make your life better as you see fit.

Remember though, you will have to negotiate your own seniority, bidding rights, payscale, days off etc etc before you devote months of your life cleaning up those union thugs.

I'm mostly being sarcastic and I hope no hardworking union volunteers would read that statement and think otherwise. Of course they had to sell us on this crappy TA so we could preserve as many jobs as possible. They busted their asses to make it the best possible given the circumstances and as Boris pointed out management didn't get all they could from us because we had 35% too many vote yes. I do appreciate the hard work they put in. I've even made it a point several times while talking directly with the MEC and LEC members to thank them for their time.

I still voted no though even after talking about how I would vote yes.

I find it funny how much "no" preaching was running around the different forums and it passed by such a large percentage.

I'm not. Being an internet tough guy is easy. They're all over the place. Even being the "I'm voting no" in the flight deck is easy. When it comes time to check the box, however, it IS a very tough call. I've been adamant how I WOULD have voted if I were still there, but that's based on what I set and had set up in my life. Everyone else's life is different.

My biggest beef in this whole process is how sure people are things are going to work out one way (3 months of furlough pay being the big one) and how Pinnacle management is likely to make it work. I also wasn't a fan of how the MEC sold the "career progression to Delta." Just call it what it is, a guaranteed interview. It's like me trying to sell an ice cream cone as a "delicious frozen delicacy."

There is one group at fault with this and that is DL management. They knew what they wanted and exactly how to get it. Every time I see RA in the safety video talking about how DL is founded on respect, integrity, etc i feel like throwing stuff at the TV screen.

You blame DAL mgmt? You mean DAL mgmt is at fault for acquiring outsourced flying at the price they wanted it? No offense but regional airlines are vendors and I don't see how the purchasing management is responsible for the pilot contract of another company's employees. Perhaps you should look towards the PNCL management team to direct your blame.

The simple fact remains that there are too many feed providers today that were created by a short term (perhaps artificial?) rise in the demand for such flying. The market has changed and now all the regionals are trampling anyone in their way to nail down the few contracts available. The legacy carriers have ALL the bargaining power on their side. Why the hell should they not exploit that leverage into cost savings?

Wait wait wait.

So you're saying, in the end, after so many briefings, pilot lounge meetings, pizza parties, et al we're just commodities to be managed?

Say it ain't so. :)

All the more reason to 1) not get emotional about this stuff 2) take the briefing at the pizza party with a grain of salt....especially if ALPA is paying (did I just say that :D ? deep breath ALPA dudes only kidding). But but they told me in indoc that I was in a great position to be a 73 capt in 4 years and hiring would be indefinite???

Wait you believed that? There's an empty stool and a funny looking hat waiting for you in the corner over there.

I was told narrowbody captain in six and widebody captain in ten, myself! Here I am, 16 years later... :)

Some of the youngun's think I'm grumpy, which I'm not, I've been promised, and seen others promised, the world. Especially if you sign.... right... here. There ya go!

Take everything (but especially upgrade numbers) with a huge grain of salt.

"The most junior EMB captain has a DOH of (X) which means (X) years to upgrade" is false.

That is from where some of my attitude toward "OMG! WOTS THE UPGRADE TIME AT MESA!?! BLAARGH" manifests itself.

The upgrade time is negative, I believe. If I'm not mistaken, every FO at Mesa was at one point a captain.

Yep, when I started at XJT they told me I'd be a captain in 2 years. 1 year later I was on the street. YMMV. :)

I was supposed to be an FO for 12-18 months and be at a major in under 4 years. Now I'm staring at a downgrade going into year 7, possibly employed at year 8, and a potential interview at year 9.

I guess the saying of "not a pilot until furloughed and through a bankruptcy" really may happen before age 30. Awesome.
