96 recalls at ExpressJet

Whats the deal with the number 96. RAH and XJT both recall 96 pilots.

If I had to guess I guess both XJET and RAH want to have the same number of crews per airplane. For example, 96 is a factor of 6. Or just a coincidence.

Also 8, 12 and 16. Wonder if it has something to do with class sizes.

The union said that 96 letters were sent out to fill 3 classes, 32, 32, and 16. So apparently it's actually 80 recalls.

Neither benefited. Unfortunately we've all "benefited" from UAL's loss.

None the less, glad to have these guys and gals back.

I think the 96 is a coincidence. In RAH's case, I think they choose 96 because they didn't want to announce a need to recall everyone right away, as that would make it look like they're well understaffed. They probably stopped at 96 because it was a good, round number.
