96 recalls at ExpressJet

Finally some good news. Reading this forum as a person who hasn't even got his feet in the door yet can sure depress me but this helps a lot!

What is deferring your call back? talked to a guy today who said if called back he was going to defer it?

In most contracts you are allowed to be 'skipped over' until either the last most junior person is called back or X period of time elapses, or both. If you defer your recall, they'll call the next person down the list... then the next time they need to recall pilots the ones who deferred the last time are called first again, since they'd be the most senior and they have the option of accepting then or deferring again, rinse & repeat until all pilots are recalled.

If they recall the most junior pilot then usually all the pilots who deferred are required to come back or resign.

Unless under certain authorized leaves, such as MIL Leave.

The possibility exists to have, once released off of MIL leave, and the company has recalled all pilots, yet no hiring is occurring, to have a class of 1 going back through the school house.

Is the recall definitely related to Mesa? Is there some other reason the recalls are being made?

Congrats, tho. Much deserved.

if you defer does the next person down the list who accepts jump you in senority? or will you still be more senior then them when you decide to come back?

Your seniority will never change. But you don't accrue longevity.

So theoretically if you were furloughed on 2nd year pay and bypassed recall, the person below you could accept right away, come back, a few months later go from 2nd year pay to 3rd year pay...then when they get back to you and you accept you would still be on 2nd year pay. BUT, you would still have your original spot on the seniority list.
