91.205 Fuel Gauge Question

Didn't know where else to put this, so I figured I would put it in here.

So to meet the requirements for VFR equipment in 91.205, does a fuel totalizer count? I would think it doesn't since you set the fuel, and it doesn't indicate the actual amount.

(example being the G1000 and Avidyne Entegra 1 where you set the amount of fuel)

Anybody out there have any thoughts?
 
Does it show you the fuel in each individual tank?
None of the totalizers I have seen do that. Though, there are some oddball aircraft that get by certification without that. DA42 for example had no quantity indicators in the aux tanks.
I still believe that the FAA would not accept that for fulfilling 91.205 due to it being pilot changeable. And finally, just about anything with a G1000 or Avidyne is going to have a KOEL that will prohibit you from flying sans fuel gauges anyway.

KOEL?

Yea thats what I figured anyway though. I was asking because I couldn't find a definition in the FARs that specifically prohibited it.
 
Fuel totalizer's do just that, show the total fuel, and its burn rate etc. 91.205 says you need to have a fuel quantity gauge for each tank. Only if the totalizer had a toggle switch to show each tank and its fuel level would it be allowed.
