90 Days and counting down....

Good luck my friend. So from what I understand, you went in with your PPL? Can you start this program without your PPL?

You cant start the 90 day fast track without your PPL, 85 hours total time and 25 hours cross country. The guy I interviewed with did the fast track PPL and then did the 90 day fast track. 150 days to go from nothing to PPL, IFR, ME,MEI,COMM, CFI,CFII and whatever else is insane! But I wish I would have done it like that, would have actually been CHEAPER!

Day 15

Passed the flight portion of PPL multi checkride!!! WOOHOO!:rawk:

instrument ground school on approach profiles.

Weather's a %#$@# @ GKY right now.... We're so backed up it's not funny.... hopefully we'll catch up over the next few days... I flew a few of my guys out today - got up to 5500 no prob... just really hazy. Oh and I'm tired of moving planes to the hangar :)

Nic is an instructor there, right? tell him Hey from Ben, He was my training partner.

Did you fly this morning? The weather report said clear, but there were obvious clouds lingering around 1000-1500MSL. Good stuff. It was nice to take my private students into 3 mile vis, so they could see how stupid it would be to go into 1 mile vis.

Day 16

Now with the PPL multi out of the way we hit the instrument stuff pretty hard.

Sim time today of 5.5, shot approaches, did holds and missed procedures.

Soooo.... no being asked like 20 times if you have the NOTAMs today?? Did your instructor ask you that in the sim today? :laff:

Nope, not today. Gets a little old quick though. On the plus side its supposed to only take like 90 days or something to install the ILS.

Have you ever done instrument training before ATP? How are you picking up the holds? Only reason I ask is because it seems after reading reviews of people going through training at regionals, the holds in the sim is where people really screw up. But with all this sim time at ATP and practicing holds, it would seem you have an edge with ATP because of all the sim time you get.

Also, where did you get your log book thingy in your signature, its pretty cool.

Honestly, if you want to practice instrument procedures right now, install Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, this is one thing that flight simulator really shines at!

One shift I had at ATP was the 2:00 - 6:00 AM simulator spot, My instructor that night was feeling a bit tired, he had me do a 30 DME Arc, and every 30 degrees doing a hold, first a left hand hold, then a right hand hold, I did a complete circle around the VOR, took 4 hours of solid Instrument time, DME Arc, Holds, while my Instructor was probably sleeping. I printed the track on that one :P

I have been playing MSFS 2004 since 2003 haha. I have kind of stopped because I dont want it to hurt me when I start to do the real thing. I found it hurt me in my PPL training. But everyone says its good for your scan. I have shot a few approaches, I assume I am doing them Ok.

Guess I should find a website that shows how holds work and practice on MSFS, it would be pretty cool if ATC gave you a hold, but its not that complex.

Here is a tip Ray Ray should have told ya. "...with information and notams, ready to taxi." "...ready for takeoff to the south, with notam."

Funny you mention that, but for the past couple of weeks, it worked by just acknowledging on request to taxi. But, today, 20 minute lady.....after holding short and making the call, I guess she finally decided to put down her nail file and after pausing for like 20 minutes, she asked me if I had the NOTAM. I almost told her that, yes, I acknowledged the NOTAM on request to taxi...but I decided to go the nice guy route.

Guess I will acknowledge the NOTAM on both taxi and TO now. :insane:

I just started my instrument training at ATP, never worked on it before.

Once you get the holds, you get them, kinda like a light bulb turning on I guess. Alot of people complain about the Sim time. I think it is highly valuable, its helped me alot. Plus, when you really screw up an approach with 1/2 mile vis, you don't have to worry about burning in. :)

I made the logbook thing in my signature with photoshop.
