9 years on Citalopram

Doc,

The story continues. I will be off Citalopram and Trazadone for 90 days next week and have an appointment with a psychiatrist. I feel fine and I am assuming the doc will agree. As I am looking towards the letter I need to write to the FAA, what phrases should I include or should I stay away from. For example I am guessing I should be clear that I have discontinued the use of both medications and have been free of any of the symtoms for 90 days. Anything else I should say. Also, I am guessing the psychiatrist is going to ask me what I need from him as far as a write up. Any suggestions?

Pete

From the psychiatrist you will need a formal evaluation with his opinion of the status of your depression. You will also need to provide copies of all of your medical records for them to review.

You will need to tell them you are no longer on citalopram since xx/xx/xxxx and you have none of the symptoms of depression.

The psychiatrist's letter is going to be the key.

Doc one more question. I promise. Well at least for today.:) How far back do I need to go with the treatment records? I am requesting them now and they will be at least 30 pages going back 9+ years. Do I need to include all of these?

Doc,

What is the FAAs wait period these days to get back to someone. I submitted the requested documentation and the doctors eval 9 weeks ago. Should I "have a seat" as it is going to be another 9 or should I expect to hear something in the next week or two?

Thanks

It depends on what the disease process was, the class of the medical and where the information was sent. I suggest you call to be sure it did not get lost. They will tell you it is in process but they will also look at the file and if fell of the map get it back on.

If it is for the new antidepressant protocol, did you use a HIMS AME? Was the file sent to the Federal Air Surgeon's office in Washington? If the answer is no to either of those questions then it fell off the map. I understand they have not yet received any SSRI applications in Washington.

Doc,

It's not for the new SSRI protocal. It was 9 years of records and a clean bill of health from from psychiatrist after being off Citalopram and Trazodone for 90 days. I mailed it to OK. as that is where I had been mailing back and forth since the process started 9 months ago. Who should I call?

Just as an update for anyone who is viewing this. I called OKC and they stated it is in review with the doctors and that they would drop them a note saying I called. I doubt that will make much difference but it is worth a try. They also said, feel free to call back next week for an update.
