8710 height and weight

JordanD

Here so I don’t get fined
I'm filling out my 8710 to go for the instrument ride and had a few questions. One, for height and weight, should I put what's on my medical? Normally I would think this would be the case, but the problem is I got my medical in 2006 when I was 16 so those figures aren't really going to be accurate anymore.

Also, do I need to fill in the blocks for solo flight time if I'm applying for the instrument rating? It says fill blocks that apply so I'm assuming no, since there aren't any solo requirements for the rating. I just want to be sure before I leave it blank. Honestly I haven't kept track of solo time since I finished my private.

Put what's current as of today for height and weight. Put all the hours on the form that you have in your logbook. I believe the FAA can "recreate" your logbooks if you ever lose them based on the info you provide to them during checkrides and medicals.

Put your current height & weight on the 8710. That's what will appear on your certificate.

And, yes, if, for whatever reason, your pilot logbook is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can "re-create"- up to a point- it using the information you listed on your 8710 form

Looks like you might be due a new medical if your last one was in 2006. In any case, put what's true now.

During one of my checkrides the DPE didn't believe my weight, so he subtracted 20lbs. I suppose using what's true now is subject to the DPE's discretion.

Make sure to put your height in inches. I've seen numerous 8710's be sent back from examiners for this mistake.

I can't imagine how he even got away with that. The temporary he issues has to match the information on the 8710-1. It's definitely not up to the examiner to take such liberties. If he suspected your 8710-1 was not correct, he is supposed to refuse to do the examination and turn the matter over to the FSDO.

Don't worry. If he had you work up a weight & balance for the checkride, he likely subtracted 30 lbs from his own weight too
