Position Description


As 787 Technical Pilot, this person will report to the 787 Chief Technical Pilot and the Assistant Chief Pilot, Flight Technical and Safety. Provides flight operations, safety and technical support to Boeing internal and external customers. Maintains qualification as a Boeing Captain on at least one aircraft model. Provides information and specialized technical services to Company and customer flight crews to enhance flight operation efficiency. Consults with cross-functional teams during accident investigations and analysis. Researches and writes Boeing technical procedures. Documents and coordinates publication of procedures and techniques for operating Boeing airplanes. Represents The Boeing Company with regulatory agencies and at worldwide safety and flight operational forums. Supports sales campaigns by discussing and demonstrating aircraft and new flight technology. Serves as a consultant to management and other industry professionals. Job requires FAA Airline Transport Pilot license or international equivalent with the appropriate endorsements, FAA First Class medical certificate or international equivalent, and FAR Part 121 flying experience or international equivalent within the last five years. Job requires some international travel.

[ + ] Flight Aviation Regulations
Basic - Intermediate knowledge of flight aviation regulations (e.g., Federal Aviation Administration [FAA], Joint Aviation Agency [JAA], International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO]). The ability to comprehend and communicate program related operational requirements.
Preferred -Extensive knowledge of flight aviation regulations (e.g., Federal Aviation Administration [FAA], Joint Aviation Agency [JAA], International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO]). The ability to mentor and conduct train the trainer classes on the subject matter.

[ + ] Flight Procedures
Basic - Intermediate knowledge and ability to demonstrate, all flight maneuvers required to operate the aircraft by the safest and most efficient means. Knowledge of operational systems and procedures for out-of-production craft.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Do you have technical writing experience?

Do you have FAR Part 121 or international equivalent airplane flight time within the last five years?

Do you have 3000 hours total airplane flight time?

Do you possess an FAA First Class medical or international equivalent?

Do you possess a FAA Airline Transport Pilot license or international equivalent with the appropriate endorsements?



Typical Education/Experience


Level 3 - Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Level 4 - Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 7 or more years’ or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.






Other Job related information


Good writing and speaking skills required. Experience creating and revising procedures and checklists is also highly desired. Experience in flying international operations is highly desired. Instructor and check pilot experience on Boeing aircraft also valued.
