767 Training

Just in case anyone's interested, I'm 'blogging' 767 training at http://76school.flyblog.com -- a red-headed stepchild site of Jetcareers.com

It's not really all that interesting, but just in case you're bored, check it out.

I don't think it's boring! I have nothing else to do on a month long paid vacation but read stuff like this on the internet. I've been checking every few days.

When it's all said and done and you're flying it, I'd like to know what some of those gotchas/quircks are on the airlplane that you mentioned on the second to last blog entry.

Well, why the ground school instructors continue to press "the ER will dump fuel at 2600 PPM, either in flight or on the ground... Don't laugh, it's happened".

:)

Thanks goodness they don't allow smoking on the ramp!

The MDs have autoland?? That's awesome. How often did you use it?

Yup, they're Cat III. Heck, even a 737-200ADV is cat III! :)

Doesn't mean it's pretty though!

We RARELY autolanded the aircraft because it's labor intensive and when it breaks, great hilarity ensues.

The 757/767 is a dream in the autoland department.

Speaking of center tanks, apparently Boeing makes a BIG stink about keeping fuel over the center tank pumps. We're not supposed to burn down to less than 1000 lbs in the center tank.

"So what do guys do to remember to turn the pumps off?"

Seriously, (no, seriously!) someone usually figures out what fuel remaining will be with the Mains + 1000 and writes a note on the flight plan closest to that fix/point. Then you have to remember to read the note...

Kevin

Cool, thanks!

MORE QUESTIONS!!!!

- Is there a 'cleared to land' reminder for the FO?
- Do we have many of the NON-FADEC Pratts?
- Are the 200K boxes actually gone yet?

I love reading that blog. Keep it coming. Cant wait to read the day when your behind the controls for the 1st time.

"So what do guys do to remember to turn the pumps off?"

I once heard about a guy who figured from the fuel flow how long it would take and set his watch timer. Never met him, though.

Funny how UPS doesn't apply the 1000lb min rule on our 767's but does on our 757's. There is no mention in our AOM about not burning the center tank down to zero on the 76. There is on the 757, though.

Do you guys have the engine heat and wing heat on below 22K in the vicinity of convective weather during descent thing? I always thought that one was kinda weird.
