767 Flight Engineer station

The 777 has one of the best jumpseats...got to sit on a few of them and WOW is it nice. I enjoyed the 76 jumpseat, and the 757 jumpseat was designed by the devil.

Noooo the 737-500 CAL 2nd jumpseat was designed by the devil! But then again its their only 73 with 2 jumpseats and its a ride to work!

You guys swap between the 767 and 757 at all over there, or do you bid 767 only?

Domestic rotations you can swap from 75 to 76 and back each leg. Doesn't happen much, but it happens. International, you can fly one type in and the other out. I have a Dakkar at the end of the month which is a 75 going over, and a 76 coming back.

Well, some of us had to slum on the domestic side for a few years!

Well, Broseph, considering you were one of the few domestic guys in that ground school, that should have been your first hint! ;)

Depends on the trip. There's really not much of a different besides flying a 757 with a three-man crew is like playing a game of "Twister" with your crew.

Good deal. Just curious how you guys roll at that there ol' big airline. ;)

At brown we will swap between a 757 and 767 on a trip like it's nothing. They got us trained (expecting us) to thing nothing of it. It's such a part of the culture, and the norm, that we don't think twice about it. Not sure that's good or bad, but that's how it is. They even expect Capts to sit in the right seat and be F/O's if necessary. Again, I'm not sure if that's the norm, or customary in the industry, but brown got it done....so that's how it is....

That's how it is here, too. Half my training sims were in the 757 (type ride included), and half were in the 767. Didn't have too much of a problem with that, except for you'd flub a V1 cut in the 757, then spend the next 3-4 days in the 767 before you'd be able to go back and get it down in the plane you messed it up in. In the end I was glad we rotated like that, though. Just hoping I won't forget it all having been at home for 5 weeks.
