737ng to 777 transition

For anyone who has done it, how long would it take a 737ng pilot to transition to flying the 777?
Yes they are both different type ratings, but with very similar cockpit layouts.
Are the systems knowledge and handling vastly different?
Would it take about a week of training?

You would have to go through a whole ground school to learn the new aircraft, so way more than a week.

There is almost no commonality between the two aircraft other than the fact that both have glass displays and are made by Boeing. You'd have to do a full initial type program.

To go from A320 to A330 is a "short course" and only 2 weeks. But they are very, very similar. Almost exactly the same cockpit.

The B777 STAR course is a 15 day footprint. If memory serves it is 2 full days of CBT; 5 days of CBT/FTD; one FBS; oral or systems exam day; then 6 FFS including checkride. There can then be add ons for ETOPS, Low Vis, RNP-AR, etc

With days off it would go closer to 3 weeks total time.

Coming off a 737NG does make it an easier transition, but there are significant differences between the types.

The full transition course has 3 more FTDs and 4 more FFS sessions plus maybe some more CBT, a day perhaps, so the footprint is closer to 24 days.
