737 Type Recommendations

Anyone with any input or experience on the topic feel free to chime in.

I need to get my FAA ATP and 737 type done in one shot. I was talking to a place in Las Vegas but they don't leave me with a great feeling that it will get done when I need it.

I need recommendations of places that can knock out a type and ATP that are both good and reliable. I have a little over 1000 on type and just did recurrent. I am looking for first 2 weeks of July.

Thanks!

I talked to a captain who "let me know" that if you go to Higher Power and then get an interview with a major, they will look at Higher Power as a sign you wanted to go to Southwest and then bail on them if the opportunity came up... My situation will be different in that I will have time in type so I think I can explain that when the time comes.

Anyone else heard that?

I've heard that as well, but who knows? The people I heard it from aren't in the HR department of a major...

Also: You have a grand in type but no type or ATP? You've been flying a 737 around with a Commercial and SIC type? Congrats, it sounds like you hit the lottery!

I think you have a reason. If it's Higher Power + 0 in type, you might get the stink eye

Foreign air carrier but yeah commercial and SIC. Current employer won't pay for it because this something I am doing on my own for my FAA license. When/if I upgrade here I would get their countrys license, ATP and type.

You're doing the written in Miami, Pan Am took over Aeroservice, so there should be some type offerings out there also?

Alex.

Pan Am wanted a pretty steep price for their training.

I checked with Higher Power and they offer a really great rate but its in the 200/300. Anyone think that will trip me up at all going from the NG? They said they do it pretty often so Im counting on their word right now

I'd get the type, then worry about differences later; if thats what you're wanting to do. It'd be like giving up an opportunity to get a DC-9 type in a DC-9-10, because you're worried you won't be able to hack it in an MD-87; even though you are needing the type rating, and its all a DC-9 type in the first place. Sure there's differences, but it shouldn't be anything that you can't hack.

Higher Power is too expensive. I went to......shoot I don't remember it was 5 years ago. It was in Denver though. I paid $4250 plus hotel and food and loss of income for 1 week! I want my money back!

That`s how it is in most places outside the US, In South America there are pilots that upgrade as FO all the way up to the biggest plane in the fleet, with a CPL and SIC type

Those places outside of the US have someone else paying for the training or aircraft types other than the pilot him or herself! I never bought a type of any sort because I have was allowed the company I was working for to pay for the type. The pilot who is the author of this thread has time in type and is current on the aircraft in which he or her situation may not be a bad idea. Personally I wouldn't do a 737 type for the southwest interview unless I have already passed the interview process.

What foreign air carrier? I would not get the type, unless the job is already offered to you.

I received a quote for $3250 in the 200/300. Do you know of a cheaper place or another option?

And yes Ive been working at the foreign carrier for 1.5 years but I left the states without my ATP. Since I need to get my ATP to open up other options it was reasonable to also get my 73 type on my FAA tickets at the same time.
