717 Advertisment on the Boeing 7E7 website

Now on to the topic at hand

I have a close friend who works at a Boeing subcontractor for the 717. No new ones on order equals and end to production for now. I don't want to see the line close for many reasons.

The ad is a good marketing concept for Boeing. Hopefully they will receive some new orders soon.

Yeah, Embraer has lots of aircraft flying around. They also have a lot more orders from many carriers for their Embraer 170s and in the future the Embraer 190s. I believe SwissAir already operates 170s?

Correction, it is LOT Polish Airlines that operates them, not SwissAir.

"...largest cross-section in the regional jet market." The 717's an RJ! Who knew? It'll be interesting to see how the mainline pilot groups feel about that.....

This industry is so •ed up right now, and the lines between mainline/regional/LCC/legacy are so blurred, it really doesn't matter what they call it. Just as long as those flying it get mainline pay and work rules.

I'm hoping ATA goes through with the massive 717 purchase. Rumors of 60-90 aircraft.

Has Northwest shown any intrest in a 717 purchase??? Can I assume that their, "Little 9's" are paid for, and making them some $$$? What a shot in the arm for this 717 program if this happened.

I hate that Boeing is struggling with this aircraft. I'm impressed with the 17 and hope good things are to come for this plane. Always thought TWA's 17's were beautiful.

And I am also entittled of stating my opinion. I understand the reason he posted this and all but what Im saying is I think the MD-80 and -90 does what the 717 is supposed to do much better.

Two points:

1) 717 is more fuel efficient with the new Rolls Royce engines and particuarly on routes suited to 100 pax.

2) 717 is new. MD-80s are old. New is better.

Yep. As soon as I saw the difference of the MD-80 and the 717 cockpits there was nothing more to be said.

What about that old POS BC-8 that UPS operates a fleet of?

[/ QUOTE ]

Son, I hope you are talking about the BC-8 and not calling my beloved DC-8 a POS!

Why doesn't Boeing just buy out Embraer or Canadair? Tis easier to own the competition than to compete against them.

Repeat after me: "Northwest is not going to order the 717". It sucks but it's the truth. And I'm a big fan of the 717.

After a little investigation of their financials, I strongly suspect that ATA can't afford to buy new planes right now. Again, it sucks for the 717.

I hope Boeing doesn't buy Embraer or Canadair. They are doing just fine by themselves.
