7/8/7 Premiere

Really looking forward to this. If you go to their website you can find sat channels to watch the unveil live today, too. I wonder how the carbon fiber will perform. I know my racing bicycle frame made of CF is amazingly light, yet offers a softer ride since it absorbs vibrations. It will be interesting to see how that translates into the 787.

I'm kinda nervous about using CF. When Trek first came out with their CF forks and frames, they had many customers injure themselves with the CF fork failing, and it wasn't because of abuse. While CF is strong when it is first manufactured, it was subject to weakening from UV light! So what they did was add more layers to give it strength.

I know you can't really say the bike fork is the same as the airplane, but...I suck at life.

It's not remotely the same...Boeing has been pioneering carbom fibre and composite aircraft manufacturing techniques since the 1980s when they were working on the B-2 with what was at the time the world's largest autoclave.

I am willing to bet that Boeing puts a lot more time/money/research into designing and building their composite structures for the 787 than Trek did for those forks.

Does anyone know if the rollout will be broadcast over the net anywhere? No satellite receiver here....

Yes it will, go here.

Also go to the website above and hit "The Seven Series" and you can watch history of all the Boeing aircraft.

The first flight is scheduled for September I believe.

I hope they build an airplane better than how they put this television braodcast together...

" adies and leman, ay I have your atten ease. Welc oengs unveiling of the even ht sev "

The broadcast was rather choppy but it seems be smooth now. The audio is the only things I was having problems with.

Audio is back but choppy.

Good thing they tested the multi-million audio for this worldwide ceremony.....
