Yes, the only other T-38s in TAC were in the 479th Wing at Holloman and it’s four LIFT squadrons. Since the 57th Wing couldn’t investigate its own accident, but the investigation had to stay within MAJCOM unless completely not possible, they were the only unit that fit that bill and thus they got it. The original BP O-7 came to the conclusion of the obvious and briefed Creech as such. He got fired. He was replaced by another O-7, Hank Canterbury, and told to re-look at it. Northrop got tossed under the bus politically over a trim feedback spring to the stick that supposedly jammed,

If there was any validly to the mx claim they would have grounded the entire T-38 fleet for inspection. I don't think this happened but can't recall if Ed related that or I heard that elsewhere. Do you know?
