4 month PPL

Still checking into just going to ATP to get my PPL as it is taking an extremely lenghty amount of time to finish at my local FBO, and to be honest, law enforcement is just killing me and I have got to find something else. On the ATP website, they offer a 4 month PPL. I know you can get it set up to do closer to home, and possibly even a local FBO. Anyone know what the requirements for the local FBO are? I mean, it may just be easier to go to JAX and fly the GPS equipped 172s from the start, and be done in roughly 2 months. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by requirements for the local FBO but if it's a part 61 school, you can look them up in FAR part 61. If you can find a local school with a good plane and CFI, there is no reason you couldn't get your PVT in four months anywhere.

Is the reason things are going slow now because of your current flight school or job situation?

I've been attempting to get my PPL since last June, and only have 26 hrs. Slow progress is due partly to my job, but mainly to my CFI having a full time flying job, other than instructing (Navajo pilot for aerial survey/photography). I enjoy the flying at my local, just progress is so slow. I haven't logged PIC since 01-08-2005.

In regards to the requirements, I was told ATP must approve of the local FBO, in order to do the program at that FBO. When I was talking about qualifications, that is what I was referring to. What are the qualifications ATP uses to determine if an FBO can be used for PPL?

I think that to join the private program you have to be enrolled in the Career Pilot Program afterwards. Call the 1-800-all-atps number and ask them though. They will have all of the answers that you need.
