Meyers means well but he is off base big time. You will always find people that love it and people that hate it. There is only one thing for you to do: Contact one of the 2 year CFI's at JAX and talk to them. I know one of them who worked with the one who just left for Gulfstream. He is in the position now as well as Standardization. He talked like it was the best job he had ever had and will talk to you- his name is Matt. He was my CFI for my initial. Call 904-641-9281 which is the ATP JAX number and just ask. He will shoot straight with ya, then make your own call. Good Luck!
PS- as an active CFI for ATP I have NEVER felt the pressure to sign off anyone. I am always told to suggest more training if it is needed. Not sure what ATP these guys worked for sometimes...![]()
Lets see Travis in ATL, in JAX I personally know Matt and when I left he was very pleased he was into stands and out of the 2 year position. In addition I was always in contact with Chad who was the 2 year for some time up there. I worked at ATP however if it were not for my very vaulable part 61 training at a local FBO my pass rate wouldnt have been 29/30 and holding a gold seal currently. I have had many phone calls made between our manager at our location and ADMIN due to issues with students and not signing just any student off. Thank god I had one hell of a manager in DAB who wouldnt deal with JIM's crap and let him know how it was. Also helped he was a DPE and a very respected employee of the Orlando FSDO. Anyways... Do as you wish with the two year CFI. If you want I have CHADS, Travis and Matt's numbers and am sure they would love to inform you about the positions.
I also have a buddy named Brian who ended up turning the CFI job down after shadowing Walt. He can tell you more as to why he turned it down but it came down to he was inform he would not be able to reject sign offs like he did while in DAB. Anyways again continue on.... I am way off I guess and do not know what I am talking about.
