It's true ANG units love to promote from within ... but don't enlist only because you think it will make your UPT package look better. If that's the case, just apply as a civilian.
If you enlist, do it because you want to serve the U.S.A and would not have a problem answering the call to serve overseas in places you would rather not be.
Any unit, and mine is no exception ... will get a few who joined for college and thinks college comes first. We had a commander who I thought put it quite elloquently ...
"We're giving you a paycheck, and paying for college, so if anyone ought to come first, it's your employer who you signed with on the dotted line ...."
