1541 Miles is not Regional!!!!!

Baller. I got my pass to Brighton this year, so if you're out in the area and want to hit it up let me know.

Oh and you should probably look up TheShortOne, she works at Deer Valley. But I swear if you start hitting on her...

:)

Heck, I'm doing LGA-DSM next week. That's one of NWA's new routes they so graciously assigned to PCL. Interesting that they decided to fly that route as asson as Eagle announced it, though. I'm not sure if it's to try to protect their flying in LGA or DSM. My bet is DSM. If it's in the Midwest, NWA will defend it until they draw their last breath.

LGA-dsm still is not longer than BGR-MSP, actually you are short by over 150 miles.

I HATED working that flight. Weight restricted ALL the time. That's what you get on the worlds longest CRJ-200 route. goons.

Shuttle use to do the DFW-JFK flights for Delta. Now I get the privalage of riding the Mesa -900 home now. I think I'll be sticking with AA when I go home now. Comair has the 900 on the JFK-AUS flight now. I'm hoping Comair will take the DFW flight seeing how they are 900's anyway.

Welcome to 1997. This has been going on for quite awhile now. I do 1200-1300 NM runs in the RJ almost every day I go to work now, and deadhead on those quite a bit. If you invest in slightly more comfortable seats with a little in flight entertainment and catering it's not that bad (in my opinion). I think these kind of runs are what the airplane is good for....a turboprop eats it's lunch economically on runs less than 500NM, and with the current backlog of 737's, RJ service on these long-thin routes is better than no service for most people.

Yeah it's a shame that we are not making as much as the BAC-111 and Fokker 100 drivers of old, but hey, what are you gonna do, economics can suck sometimes.

Yeah, I did Solitude a few years ago, and I like it but I gotta get to Alta.

I also spoke with her last year because I was prolly going but plans changed!

Um... ok... Let's see.
The DC9-30 carried 100 pax. EMB190 carries 100 pax.
The F100 carried 85 pax. The CRJ 900 carries 90 pax.
The F28 carried 65 pax. The CRJ 700 carries 70 pax.
The BAC 111 carried 65 pax. The ERJ 145 carries 50 pax.

Yes, clearly airline management had some benefit to doing it. Hence the RJ nicknames you may have heard such as "Replacement Jet" and "Scope Buster". They managed to take a narrowbody platform and reduce the crew costs and benefits. Did passenger ticket prices fall as well? Nope... our pax aren't getting a "sorry you had to fly on an RJ" discount.

So lets make sure we have this straight. Management replaced the DC9 with a newer, more economical airframe. They continued to receive the same revenue from that platform... but they found replacement workers who were willing (with ALPA's blessing) to come to work for a fraction of the pay and benefits of their now-furloughed counterparts.

If we all put on our management glasses for a moment it's really easy to see why this happened.

:yeahthat:Couldn't be more spot on. You did forget the sham bankruptcies and the aquisition of even more economical aircraft. Then slashed salaries and jobs. There is no accountablity to the investors by management and non to the public for all the tax money thats dumped into aviation. The problem isn't from the bottom up like a lot of people think with the low time guys, but from the top down. Management and Unions allowing all these jets to not be mainline.
