A Welsh MP who wants to see Concorde return to the skies above Britain claims it can be done for around £14m.

Mr Öpik said the £14m bill was "peanuts" to have a mascot plane operational by 2009 for the 40th anniversary of Concorde's first flight.

He said one ambition was to have Concorde back in the air for the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

"It ees marvel-oos!"

Interesting note....
The British and French governments picked up the tab for the development and to an extent the operation of the aircraft (before BA was floated on the market) therefore under the terms of this agreement BA is obligated to sell it's Concords to whomever wants them for one pence (1p) if the purchaser can prove that they have a solid business plan.
I recall Virgin putting in an offer for the aircraft in the run up to the retirement but nothing more was heard of it (I guess they are too expensive to operate).

So all they need is for fuel prices to drop to around 10 cents / gallon and they are back in business :sarcasm:
